Superior cocoaJan 22, 2010
By Cautious Consumer In today's market most chocolate flavored products are primarily sugar with a dusting of low quality cocoa. I have tried Peringotti because it was touted as having a wonderful fruity taste. And it does! But I prefer to have my fruit and cocoa separate. Valrhona is the darkest and richest pure cocoa flavor that I have come across. It mixes extremely well in drinks and for baking. More importantly, pure cocoa allows one to control the level of sweetness and the calorie content.
This is the only brand I will use.

Best cocoa powder everNov 03, 2010
By SA I use this for making hot chocolate every morning, very smooth and satisfying. Use whole milk and a little of brown sugar. The best. There is a slight difference from batch to batch. We also use it for baking, unquestionably the best.

Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it myself!Nov 06, 2010
By T. Dillard I kept reading recommendations for Valrhona Cocoa Powder and what a difference it makes in baking. Frankly, I thought the recommenders were embellishing a bit....until I tried it. I have only found it online and at gourmet food stores and since using it in baking recipes, I will NEVER use any other cocoa powder. It is truly the difference between a good product and an outstanding one. I ran out of Valrhona in the middle of making cupcakes for a wedding shower and rushed back to the gourmet shop for some more, they were out of it and sold me a "comparable Dutch processed" cocoa. It was NOT even close to being a good substitute for the Valrhona. I will not run out of it again. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and get some!

The nose, Knows.Nov 30, 2011
By Richard Norris As a comparison, I have tried Hershey's Premium, Pernogetti, and Valrhona cocoa.
This used to be the only cocoa I knew of, and in comparison has a foul smell that makes one recoil.
The Pernogetti is very nice, with fruity undertones.
A great recipe can overcome mediocre ingredients, but this cocoa makes the best recipes World-class.

My favorite cocoaMar 21, 2011

As a serious chocoholic, I have to say that this is the best cocoa powder I have tasted. Amazon sells some others which are very good, even excellent, but for my hot cocoa addiction, this brand is absolutely the best, with a very distinct but balanced and satisfying flavor. I would recommend this one for any chocolate afficionado.
